My daughter-in-law has a HP laptop. The Laptop AC Adapter plug where it plugs into the computer (the little round male plug) has come loose from the wires. I took it to MicroCenter and asked if they could put a new plug on it for me. They told me no and said I would need to buy a whole new AC adapter which is $79.99. so expensive.
Seems to me like the little plug could be replaced without having to spend that much money for a new AC adapter for laptop (Business Notebook nc8430 Laptop AC Adapter).
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions as to whether the plug could be replaced and wherei might have it done ??
Let’s say you find anyoune to cut the wires and splice that from some donor power supply. Let’s say they get it wrong or you are unlucky and the laptop fries. Given the litigatious nature of many consumers they have to give you this advice. If it’s just loose wires, perhaps it would be an easy fix. The repair could be costly though, depending on if a new plug needs to be ordered. It might be just as easy to go with a new adapter.
Try look for the same connector at the local electric component store or found similar adapter( Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop AC Adapter ) and cut a part of the power cord with the adapter and connect the power cord together on your adapter.
But for some laptop, making sure the polarity is very important, otherwise the laptop may behave strangely or got the power card onboard shorted.

I need to buy a power converter in Paris France, (so that I may use my USA version Xbox360). However, I really have no idea where to start. What Parisian electronics/technology stores would carry power converters/adapters etc? I’m looking for the French equivalent of Radioshack.

Bus the problem will be to connect your XBox to the TV because, even with the power converter, the standard for the pictures on TV is not the same NTSC in USA and Secam in France (except if you have an expensive Dual-mode TV).
